The DGM is the government branch responsible for producing Exit Letters for Congolese citizens. The time we spend in Kinshasa, DRC, will be submitting our documents and having interviews with the DGM and then waiting until they issue our girls' exit letters. This has been about a two week process for those families ahead of us.

Adoption ALERT posted on Sept. 27:  "The DGM informed the US Embassy in Kinshasa that effective Sept. 25, 2013, the DGM suspended issuance of exit permits to adopted Congolese children seeking to depart the country with their adoptive parents. The DGM reports the suspension will last up to 12 months."  PANIC!!!!

We have since learned that the suspension may be only a few weeks instead of "up to 12 months". There are other political issues involved with these shutdowns that we can't post here.  We are anxiously waiting to see what's going to happen with the several families there right now waiting to drop off their documents to the DGM which was closed all last week.

Because we have our Bordeaux Letters and are so close to getting our girls' visas, our agency is hopeful that we will still be issued exit visas when we travel. Our agency is keeping a close eye on this as they continue to be our voice in Kinshasa.  We're among dozens of other families in this situation.

Please continue to pray for this situation as well as our girls'  Canadian visas to be issued asap.  The drama continues but God bigger than all these obstacles.  And we continue to pack so we're ready at a moment's notice....  Trusting God to orchestrate all these details just at the right time.
