Not anymore! Here's the direct quote from our Provincial Authorities today:
(The information is somewhat inaccurate because the U.S. families are also under suspension)
Dear Agency Colleagues,
Our
office has been advised of the following information with respect to
exit permits from the Democratic Republic of the Congo:
The
Canadian Embassy in Kinshasa/Gombe has received a response from the
Director General of Migration (DGM) regarding the embassy’s diplomatic
note with the list of Canadian families whose adoptions meet the
criteria established by the DGM (signed “Bordereau d’adoption” before
September 25, 2013).
The
response from the DGM indicates that the 12-month suspension is in
force and that all exit permits for minor children adopted by Canadian
families have been suspended. Although U.S. families were allowed to
proceed with pending cases finalized before September 25th, Italian and now Canadian families were refused.
I will share information with you as it becomes available.
Please let me know if you have any questions,
Intercountry Adoption Consultant | Central Authority for British Columbia
Guardianship, Adoption & Permanency Planning | Ministry of Children and Family DevelopmentAs advised by our agency, we now proceed to work with our MP (praying they are very cooperative) and Foreign Affairs to put pressure on the authorities to allow our legally adopted children to come home. We also want our MP and Citizenship Canada to put pressure on Nairobi to issue our girls' visas. All this now becomes a human rights issue.
Please pray for God to DE-THRONE the man responsible for this mess. It seems to be the #1 man responsible for these unjust decisions. The #2 man at DGM is said to be a Christian.
Needless to say, this has been quite a blow for us today. We cannot begin to fathom the thought of our girls being stuck in an orphanage for up to 12 more months! It's hard not to think about the increasing, continual fees, indefinite wait, and the precious time we're missing with our daughters.
The sting of injustice is felt in this home like never before.
Psalm 82
Unjust Judgments Rebuked.
1 God takes His stand in His own congregation ; He judges in the midst of the rulers.
2 How long will you judge unjustly And show partiality to the wicked ? Selah.
3 Vindicate the weak and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and destitute.
4 Rescue the weak and needy; Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.
5 They do not know nor do they understand; They walk about in darkness; All the foundations of the earth are shaken.
6 I said, "You are gods, And all of you are sons of the Most High.
7 "Nevertheless you will die like men And fall like any one of the princes."
8 Arise, O God, judge the earth! For it is You who possesses all the nations.
Please pray for a miracle - that our names would be on the revised list expected to be published soon (in Africa time)! Who can know the mind of the LORD?

ReplyDeleteWe sit and weep with you. We have no weapons in this warfare except for prayer. When disappointments get even worse, where can we go but to the Lord? Now we realize we can do nothing on our own, but we can still use the means available as you are doing. We have no idea why God is leading us this way but to test our faith as He did with Job. In spite of all odds and all contradiction and opposition and loss and disappointments, he held on to God as His only refuge and strength, and so must we. We live and act by faith and not by sight. It would be easy to become cynical and even begin to think God does not care, meaning God is not all good, or thinking God is not able, meaning God is not all-powerful. But we know these things are not true. Jesus still calms the storms (not every storm) and heals our hearts, (not every heart), but most often walks us through the trial as Psalm 23 so aptly teaches us "when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, Thou art with me...) And that is always the greatest blessing, as it was with Joseph in prison and as a slave, it is stated at each occasion that God was with Him. He alone is our Comfort and Strength.
ReplyDeleteAnd so we continue in prayer with you and meet you at His feet.....
Shalom
