  1. In John 11 we read that Lazarus had died and the sisters sent word to Jesus (we prayed to Jesus) “3Lord, the one you love is sick.” (Lord the children You love are stuck in Congo). But Jesus tarries and does not come immediately (God does not answer our prayers as we had hoped). Lazarus dies. (girls remain in Congo) And then we hear Martha’s painful words 21 “Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.” (Lord, if You would have made these people sign the exit visas, I would not have to come home without our children. But we still trust in You and Your almighty power and goodness)

    Oft times the day seems long, our trials hard to bear,
    We're tempted to complain, to murmur and despair;
    It will be worth it all when we see Jesus,
    Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ;
    One glimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
    So bravely run the race till we see Christ.
