Our Adoption Journey to Africa

Busy day today: I (Jackie) made it safely to Brussels this morning via Montreal.

Had a full day of organizing flights, walking through parts of the city square, and enjoying the company of other adoptive families.

Our girls received their Canadian Citizenship today.

Our girls received Exit Permits today.

Praise God!

Weeping tears of joy....praying you all home safely. Can hardly stand the wait until I officially see you holding the girls or you tell us that they are in your arms.

April, 2011 - Application to update homestudy sent to Hope Services.
July 2011 - homestudy update complete
July 2011 - Dossier sent to foreign adoption agency, put on wait list for D.R. Congo.
January, 2012 - Hope Adoption Services closed due to lack of funding. Moved our file to Choices
March, 2012 - Received adoption grant from ABBA Canada. April, 2012 - attended Adoption Conference in Surrey.
April to June, 2012 - switching foreign adoption agency. June 2012 - put on new waiting list
July 2012 - approval for Part 1 Immigration
August, 2012 - dossier sent for translation into French
Oct 15. 2012 - phone call for referral
Nov. 1, 2012- signed papers for referral, notarized, couriered to agency
Nov. 28, 2012 - last documents for translation completed Nov. 30, 2012 - Authentication begins
January 22, 2013 - Dossier to Congo
February 25, 2013 - Court
March 13, 2013 - Passed Court & Written Judgment
March 22, 2013 - CONA - Certificate of Non Appeal
April 9, 2013 - Act of Adoption
April 17, 2013 - Girls moved to Transition House
April 23, 2013 - Started Part 2 Immigration
April 29, 2013 - LONO from BC Gov't
May 17, 2013 - Part 2 on route to Kinshasa
July 18, 2013 - Girls' passports Complete
Aug 22, 2013 - Bordeaux Letter
Sept 10, 2013 - New Birth Certificates
Sept 1 6, 2013 - Part 2 arrives in Nairobi, Kenya
Sept. 25 2013 - DGM suspends exit permits for adopted children
Jan. 2015 - CIC informs us our immigration files are complete! But will not issue Canadian visas for our girls.
