The following has been confirmed by our agency via the U.S. Embassy:
(this is specific to US families (department of state), but we see it as progress AND our agency still believes that getting DGM reopened is going to mean it reopens for all).
QUOTE: "Good
news today……. received confirmation that a delegation from the
Department of State is arriving in Kinshasa. They are going to meet with
the DGM office to educate them on the process of adoption in the US and
assure them the children are being taken care of. Also delegation will
be headed to the US and will be visiting with agencies and families in a
few weeks. The delegation will pick who they visit and we as agencies
will have no input to this process. The Department
of State is in charge of the whole thing. Things are looking good if
the DOS is willing to travel and then entertain this delegation. Hoping
they are getting invested with the DRC program. Thank you DOS for
helping them( DRC) to understand these children need homes. Lets pray
for a good outcome and that the DRC starts processing the much needed
exit letters. Big meeting in DRC on Tuesday with many of the people involved in the process. "
It's every CANADIAN adoptive parent's dream that our Canadian Foreign Affairs would become involved and support adoptions like the US! Unfortunately, Canada isn't giving us any voice. Praying that when the DGM opens, it will open for all countries.
Please pray for this meeting on Tuesday. (Kinshasa is 8 hours ahead of us.)
