The US State Department had a conference call with all adoptive families to the DRC early this morning to inform us of their meeting with the DRC officials last week.
It's bad news all around. The DGM isn't going to budge and will hold the suspension of exit letters for the full 12 MONTHS, until Sept. 2014.
The US government is trying to address the concerns of Congolese officials that children are abused in the USA or adopted by a second set of parents. The US delegation explained aspects of US law, the process of homestudy and checks that all adoptive families have to complete before being approved to adopt, and tried to address their concerns. The Congolese said they were "investigating cases" but gave no further details.
The US Department of State invited the Congolese officials to the USA to address their concerns. The Congolese officials requested meetings with American families who are already home with their children. No dates for this visit have been announced.
Clearly, they are not concerned about the impact this has on the children and their families.
Unless God does a miracle, we have no hope of getting our girls home anytime soon. Please pray for faith.
I have no words Jackie...except I am SO sorry. Will email you privately.
