Though You Slay Me (fearturing John Piper)

I come, God, I come
I return to the Lord
The one who's broken
The one who's torn me apart
You struck down to bind me up
You say You do it all in love
That I might know You in Your suffering

Though You slay me
Yet I will praise You
Though You take from me
I will bless Your name
Though You ruin me
Still I will worship
Sing a song to the one who's all I need

My heart and flesh may fail
The earth below give way
But with my eyes, with my eyes I'll see the Lord
Lifted high on that day
Behold, the Lamb that was slain
And I'll know every tear was worth it all

Though tonight I'm crying out
Let this cup pass from me now
You're still all that I need
You're enough for me
You're enough for me

  1. Sometimes in life we seem to come to a dead end. When the Israelites were driven to the edge of the Red Sea and there was no way out, it drove them to the Lord to cry out to Him as He was the only remaining Source of help. And when all we have left is the Lord, then that is all we need and we do, in fact, have everything. And perhaps that is a lesson contained in this process - not to trust in humans, but to trust in God alone.

    Psalm 146:
Do not put your trust in princes,
in human beings, who cannot save.
    4 When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;
on that very day their plans come to nothing.
5 Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the LORD their God.

God's timetable is not ours and sometimes we have to experience that painfully so the reality of these things and of our faith is shown.

    John 16:
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

When we examine the lives of Bible saints, we see their faith shine out when all they had left was God, just to show us that when all we have left is God, that is all we need.

    -Joseph sold to Egypt
    - Daniel in the lion's den
    -Abraham sacrificing Isaac
    -Paul in prison
    -Jeremiah in the pit

    1 Peter 1
6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed.

We are with you all in this trial of faith -in hope and in patience and in prayer

    Love
