Federal NDP Critic Urges Immigration Minister to Intervene on Congolese Adoptions:
The past couple weeks have been like the past few months. Ups and downs, good news, bad news. We did have a second appointment with our MP, Mark Strahl, last week and he assured us he was working on our behalf and that our case was the most worked on in his office!
We have a "hit list" that we email regularly which includes all 300+ MP's. It's proven to be worth the time it took to copy all the MP's email addresses into one document.
Last week, Obama hosted the African Leader's Summit in Washington, DC where the president of the DRCongo, Joseph Kabila, was in attendance as well as his opposition leader. We are told Kabila was confronted more than once on the issue of Congo adoptions but made no promises.
Both Ends Burning met with the opposition leader, Samy Badabanga, while he was in the US and it looks like he will work hard for our kids! Parliament in the DRC convenes September 15.
Our agency told us they can no longer afford to keep the Transition House (orphanage) open and must move the children into separate foster homes. Even though each family provides monthly funding for their child(ren), apparently it's not enough to keep it operating. This is proving to be more complicated than expected and we are devastated our girls will be moved yet another time. They've already had at least 5 major transitions in their life.
Please keep us in your prayers. Many days we feel so defeated and the fight too difficult to bear. But God sustains us through each day. We long for the day when our girl can finally be with us.
